All about Rob Hooson
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy working with the team, building new relationships with clients and brokers. Oh and the free Pizza and Milky Way Magic Stars if we’ve had a good week.
Favourite musician?
Angus Young from ACDC
Favourite film or TV series?
Without doubt Lord Of The Rings. I will never get bored of it. Sit me down with Gandalf, Frodo and a Galaxy Ripple and I am in heaven.
How do you relax outside of work?
I collect vintage Lawnmowers which I find hugely rewarding. I spend a lot of my downtime visiting car boot sales and vintage machinery fairs and I have picked up some cracking bargains, my favourite probably being a 1951 Qualcast B1 hand mower – I had been searching for this one for almost 9 years. I refurbish them, paint them and sell them through my Etsy account.
If you could change anything about your life up until this point, would you and if so, what would it be?
I think I’d liked to have travelled more when I was in my early 20s. That may have passed me by now. However I did pass through Chirk recently and that was nice.
Who has had the biggest influence in your life, professional or personal?
My dad was the biggest influence.
Biggest success to date, professional or personal
Uprooting and leaving Wrexham for Manchester and being successful working for Barclays was a catalyst for where I am today.
What brings you most happiness?
Football, watching Wrexham win. Which has only been a recent thing while watching them but I have followed the team when there were just 250 fans and a 3 legged dog attending, so I know what pain and heartbreak in football is really like. The fact that I can also unwind after a game at the SToK Cae Ras with Ryan and Rob over a glass or two of Wrexham lager only adds to my enjoyment.
What’s your least favourite trait in other people?
Dishonesty
And your favourite thing about people?
Loyalty
Who would you most like to have dinner with?
Liam Gallagher, as it would be a very entertaining dinner. I’m a huge Oasis fan and went to see them recently on their comeback tour.
Summarise your career to date and how you came to work at Breeze Capital
I met Mark Harrison and was instantly blown away by his winning smile and bouffant hair so that sealed the deal really.
It’s enjoyable and interesting to get stuck into a new sector (I worked in business finance before this) and it’s still early in my career here but hopefully, there is a lot more to come.
